December 26, 2024 by Lakota Brown, Scott Claybrook
Passages:John 17:1-5, Ephesians 1:7-10, John 17:24, Psalm 2:7-8, Revelation 7:9-12

Sermon Synopsis

What are the dreams or desires of Your heart, Jesus?

The Father made it clear. “This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”. As Jesus rose from His baptism and was transfigured on the mountaintop, the Father’s heart’s desires found their “Yes and Amen” in Beloved God-Man, Christ the Son.

But what has moved the Son of God’s heart? What has the Beloved set His longing upon and will we join Him?

As we start our 6th year as a gathered church family, we take time to revisit the vision – dreams the Beloved laid upon the heart of His people known as LegacyPoint – a part of His beloved people. Revisit the call with us upon all believers’ hearts as we peer into the life of the God-Man.

Chapter by chapter, we dive into each Gospel and rehash the key passages the Holy Spirit placed before us as a local church in our inception (Psalm 2:7-8; Ephesians 1:3-6, 7-10; Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 3:13-15, 31-35; Revelation 7:9-12).

Beloved Church, will you dream with the Beloved?

John 17:1–5

17:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

Ephesians 1:7–10

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

John 17:24

24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Psalm 2:7–8

I will tell of the decree:
  The LORD said to me, “You are my Son;
    today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.

Revelation 7:9–12

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
